Part 2. The Untimely Spherical Panorama
This part of the project involves the interaction of a few devices, focusing on the translation of the reality into images and the compression and extraction of information, going back and forth from 3D to 2D, negative and positive.
A light sensitive glass globe was exposed with a camera with multiple lenses looking at different directions. Light from the environment thus wrapped around the globe, resulting in a 3D negative.
To invert the image, we reversed the mechanism of carousel projectors and adapted them into cameras. This projector-camera then rephotographed the sculptures as they rotated, reframing them at different angles. The same projector was then used to project these photographs, converting them into comprehensible positive images.
